Free From Terror Who spread the anthrax last October and why? Well, who has that strain of anthrax and who has a motive? Most commentators and the FBI agree that only a select group of Americans have easy access to the Ames strain of anthrax used in the letters mailed last October. But why would any of them want to kill and terrorize Americans? The clue is in the timing. A chronology of events suggests that the motivation was to boost passage of controversial legislation in Congress last October, called the USA Patriot Act. A number of unlikely “coincidences” associated with the anthrax attacks makes it hard to believe that they were random.

Narco News

This newsletter relays what the Mexican and Latin American press is saying about the drug war. Many of these stories will appear to English-speaking readers as out-of-context to the media-driven "consensus" within the United States regarding the drug war. These stories are not reported in the United States or other world powers: the very nations that pride themselves on freedom of the press. Why not? Ineptness? Intent? The imposed silence of a market-driven media? Each of these ills is a factor and Narco News will take no prisoners in afflicting the comfortable members of the Fourth Estate, one at a time, for their role in the whole mess. Artificially created consensus - based on untruths and lack of information - always breaks. Each time it shatters, that fracture is called history.

The Political Compass
The old one-dimensional categories of 'right' and 'left', established for the seating arrangement of the French National Assembly of 1789, are overly simplistic for today's complex political landscape. For example, who are the 'conservatives' in today's Russia? Are they the unreconstructed Stalinists, or the reformers who have adopted the right-wing views of conservatives like Margaret Thatcher ? On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi? It's not sufficient to say that Stalin was simply more left than Gandhi. There are fundamental political differences between them that the old categories on their own can't explain. Similarly, we generally describe social reactionaries as 'right-wingers', yet that leaves left-wing reactionaries like Robert Mugabe and Pol Pot off the hook. After you've responded to the listed questions, all will be explained. In each instance, you're asked to choose the response that best describes your feeling: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Agree or Strongly Agree. At the end of the test, you'll be given the compass, with your own special position on it.

This is literally a mom and pop operation, with a few friends helping out. Unknown News is not a corporation, not a foundation, not a tax deduction, not a subsidiary of anything that is, and not affiliated with any political party or organization. They have strong and obvious sympathies and disagreements with the far right, the far left, those in between, and those off the scale. They're not liberals, not conservatives; neither a little bit country nor a little bit rock-n-roll. They're big fans of the Bill of Rights, and other great works of fiction. They believe in questioning authority (the more authority, the more questions). They have no patience for the status quo of bipartisan duplicity, hypocrisy, graft, and gladhanding. They're skeptical, and sick of so-called 'journalists' who aren't skeptical at all.

Yellow Times Today we live in an age of yellow journalism, where many of the mainstream news sources exploit, distort, and exaggerate the news to create sensations and attract readers. In a time where many injustices plague the world, YellowTimes.org finds it ridiculous that major news sources frequently publish television shows, such as Survivor, on their front pages. YellowTimes.org offers our readers an alternative to the exploitation of public figures, the distortion of real world problems, and the exaggeration of unimportant events. Since many world politicians are too cowardly to speak out against these injustices, YellowTimes.org decided in October of 2000 to expose these politicians to the public and inform the world of these injustices against humanity.
